What is junk light?Updated 2 months ago
Junk light refers to artificial light sources such as LED lights, compact fluorescent lights (CFLs), and devices with LED screens, including smartphones, tablets, laptops, and computers. These lights emit high levels of blue, green, and purple wavelengths, which can interfere with your body’s natural rhythms.
Your circadian rhythm, also known as your internal sleep/wake cycle, is particularly sensitive to these wavelengths. Exposure at the wrong times of day or night can disrupt your biological clock, negatively affecting sleep, mood, focus, and cognitive performance.
Being mindful of your light exposure, especially in the evening, can help support better rest and overall wellbeing.
